Celebrating Memories, Embracing Stewardship, Seeking Wonder
Welcome! My name is Tracy and I’m the Owner/Founder of Barefoot Eco Outfitters. That’s me and my daughter/partner/adventure buddy Skyler in the photo above, basking in the majesty of Mighty Mount Rainier, one of the biggest inspirations for this company (you can read more about that in my inaugural blog post, “Coming Home” here.) This mission driven business is a family affair; my two sons Trevor and Keegan, have also been an integral part of this journey, and the photos on these pages are essentially snapshots of our life. We have survived domestic violence together, and sought solace and refuge in the heart of nature. Our connection to the great outdoors remains a sacred part of our bond, and a major inspiration for this venture.
Growing up, my every summer vacation was spent camping in the great Pacific Northwest, and I continued that tradition with my own children. Back in the day, my siblings and I thought that was the coolest thing ever; in hindsight, it was probably all our parents could afford with four young kids! But all these years later, the memories of those years are still as evergreen-scented and vibrant as when they happened. Why is that? We believe there is something sacred about nature that brings you back to your authentic self. It doesn’t matter who you are, nature accepts you. Nature doesn’t judge. And we believe that sleeping under the stars with just the whispering wind or rush of a river to sing you to sleep invites you to appreciate your true self. For us, that’s pure bliss. Maybe it is for you too.
We want to celebrate those feel-good nature moments! We want to be empowered by the confidence, connection and exuberance offered by the great outdoors, and we want to give back, because we’ve overcome challenges in our own life that have given us an attitude of gratitude; this above all else propels us forward!
We’ve thoughtfully created vintage-inspired designs that resonate with us and include elements that we hope will stir some happy memories in you too. We hope that our products will make you feel both part of a larger whole, and also aware of your own uniqueness and ability to shape our collective future. Ultimately, our hope is that it will inspire you to get out there and make some memories of your own. From trail to sea, there is adventure to be had, and a planet to care for, so embrace your inner Trail Blazer! We’re excited to be on this journey with you!

Check out our product video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_ZK9ffA5f8. When you purchase our products, you can be sure that they are kind to the planet. There are lots of ways to be earth-friendly! For example, we feature tees made with 100% organic cotton, a 50% organic cotton/50% RPET blend (made from plastic bottles), and a 70% viscose bamboo/30% organic cotton blend, all ethically made in the USA.
We are also committed to shipping your products in packaging you can feel good about! Our degradable bubble mailers will break down in composting or in landfills in 5 – 60 months, yet are sturdy enough to get your products to you safely and with confidence. Our poly mailers are made from 100% waste, and are fully recyclable, and our clear product bags are 100% recycled, recyclable, and earth and archival-friendly. In addition, Any insert cards or paper are 100% recycled, and we hope that you will carry on the effort by re-using or recycling all your packaging. That’s an extended partnership that is kind of cool to think about! You + Us = Change.
How We’re Eco-Friendly/Ethical and Why it Matters
The fashion industry is sadly rife with human rights and safety violations, as well as environmentally irresponsible manufacturing practices. Barefoot Eco Outfitters is committed to only providing apparel/products made in socially compliant facilities using eco-friendly materials. We are concerned about workplace safety and human and labor rights, as well as having a minimal impact on the environment, and you can be assured that the products you purchase here meet those standards.
It’s pretty common knowledge now that standard farming/manufacturing processes are having an alarming effect on the environment. We believe it’s important to take a stand in promoting and utilizing responsible methods and materials for a sustainable future. The facilities that produce our garments comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations. Only low impact, fiber reactive dyes that are not harmful to the environment are used in our garments. This means that the dyes do not contain any heavy metals or toxic substances. Recycled water is used in the dye facilities as well. Some of the features of our apparel:
- Organic Cotton: farmed without insecticides, pesticides, & chemical fertilizers
- Sustainably Grown Materials: bamboo/hemp both grow exceptionally fast, use less water, are naturally insect resistant, and have long lasting durability.
- Low Impact Dyes: reduce water quality impact of manufacturing
- RPET: A soft fiber created from discarded plastics. Recyling 1 ton of RPET containers saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space
- Water Recycling: reduces consumption and cuts down on water treatment and waste water.
Making a Difference
This is why we do what we do. A portion of every purchase is used to support environmental/wildlife causes. In addition, we are excited to partner with and participate in regional conservation/preservation projects to both positively impact the environment and spread awareness about our eco-friendly mission.
To date, we have participated in trail maintenance and regional beach cleanup efforts, as well as attended Hiker Rally Day at our state capitol to advocate for the preservation of our natural spaces. The designated recipient of the proceeds collected from our Mighty Ocean Collection go to Puget Soundkeeper Alliance Marine Debris Program. You can find out more about them and the good work they do here: http://www.pugetsoundkeeper.org/. We will have further information soon regarding the donation recipient from our Mighty Mountain Collection! We’re excited to continue and increase our involvement in these activities in the coming months, so please check back to find out more as further details become available!
We would be nothing without you, and we are committed to making your experience with us a great one!
